About THE LORD OF THE RINGS: FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING
The screenplay by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Jackson is determinedly faithful to Tolkien's text, as it sends Frodo and his friends Sam (Sean Astin), Pippin (Billy Boyd), and Merry (Dominic Monaghan) off in the direction of the terrifying volcanic Mount Doom, where they must dispose of a cursed ring passed down to Frodo by his cousin Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm). The treasure, possessing extraordinary destructive powers, was forged by Sauron ages ago and, should it fall into the wrong hands, it could spell the end of civilization.

Getting rid of the ring is not easy. In fact, it might even take two more epic films to accomplish the task...
