The live theatrical production of Hadestown was a massive Broadway hit, winning eight Tony Awards in 2019, including Best Musical, and earning the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. This film captures a live performance in London’s West End, reuniting the five original principals of the Broadway company. Blending modern American folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz, Hadestown: The Musical reimagines a tale from Greek mythology. Tracing two intertwining love stories—young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and his wife, Persephone—Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back.
